About Joan Berkey
I am a folk artist, specializing in small oil paintings that depict what America's towns, villages, and farms looked like in the 18th and 19th centuries. I call them historic townscapes and historic farmscapes. I am a professional architectural historian who learned folk art from my mother many years ago and I now combine my two loves into art. I will be bringing many pieces (framed originals and prints) to the Zoar show that illustrate various Ohio scenes. Since 2017, I have been listed in the Early American Life Magazine's Directory of Traditional American Crafts.
Oil Paintings
I have a small studio in our ca. 1790 South Jersey farmhouse. I do commission paintings, original paintings, and paintings based on 19th century black and white etchings. NEW this year--townscapes and farmscapes painted on pantry box lids.
